La Liga: Chukwueze wins the battle of the Nigerians as Omeruo loses with Leganes (2)

The La Liga match up between Villareal and Leganes saw two Super Eagles regulars come up against each other with Kenneth Omeruo tasked with keeping Samuel Chukwueze and his fellow Villareal attackers at bay.

Chukwueze was particularly lively in the opening minutes, running tirelessly to make things happen for his side along side Santi Cazorla and strike partners Ekambi and Bacca. Omeruo and his team kept Villareal at bay in the first period, putting their bodies on the line time and time again to ensure the game stayed goalless for the first half.

Villareal had other plans for the second period and  took the lead in the 64th minute when Carlos Bacca nodded in at close range to give his side the lead. The second eventually came through Ekambi in the 80th minute before Leganes pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 87th minute through Nabil El Zhar. Villareal held on to secure all three points and continue their push for survival as they are now four points off the relegation places.
