AFCON 2019: Things fall apart as AFCON debutants beat Nigeria in 2-0

Goals from Lalaina Nomenjanahary and Carolus Andriamahitsinoro were all Madagascar needed to put the Super Eagles of Nigeria to the sword in the final match of Group B of the 2019 African Cup of Nations played at the Alexandria Stadium on Sunday.
Prior to the game, the Super Eagles were seating comfortably at the top of  Group B table with six points and they needed just a point against Madagascar who had four points from two matches to finish in first place in their group but they were overpowered by Nicolas Dupuis men.
From the very blast of the whistle, the Berea showed great composure, with the Nigerian team edging possession with sideways and backwards passes.
The Barea opened the scoring after 13 minutes of the exchange through Lalaina Nomenjanahary who benefited from a blunder by Leon Balogun ato round Ezenwa and slot into an empty net for 1-0
Madagascar doubled their lead eight minutes into the second half through Carolus Andriamahitsinoro's direct free kick after Wilfred Ndidi who came in to replace John Ogu tripped Ibrahim Amada few meters away from his goal post.
The game ended 2-0 as the AFCON debutants claimed their first ever victory against Nigeria in Africa’s most prestigious tournament to book their first ever last 16 ticket  with seven points from three matches, scoring five goals and conceded two.

Andrea Carolus who was unarguably the best player on the pitch was rewarded with the Total Man Of The Match award for his great exploit against The three-time AFCON winners.
