Captain of the Flying Eagles, Ikouwem Utin has promised a better outings from the Under 20 team going forward in the tournament.

Nigeria qualified for the Round of 16 as one of the third best losers after playing out a one all draw with Ukraine who topped Group D with seven points, with South Africa coming a close second with six points.

Speaking to the media after the game, Captain of the side Utin, thanked God for the victory and noted that his team knew their tasks ahead of the encounter and executed the game plan as directed by the coaching staff.

"I thank God for the result, we Qualified to the next stage and we want to thank all the fans that believed in us. This game will motivate us going into the knockout stages as we will take every game as a final".

Nigeria won their first game 4-0 over Qatar, lost the next game by a two goal margin to the USA and sealed qualification with a draw against Ukraine. Early projections point to an all African affair for the round of 16 as Nigeria might square up with Senegal for a place in the quarter finals.
