NPFL 19: Nigerian referees are a kill joy - UCHE OKAGBUE (2)

FC Ifeanyi Ubah Technical Adviser has branded Nigerian Referees as kill joy after losing to Nasarawa United at the Lafia City Stadium in one of the MD 14 fixtures of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Despite dominating possession for the majority of the game, FC Ifeanyi Ubah lost the game to a controversial goal by Anas Yusuf in the 60th.

Anozie Chinedu had earlier denied Thomas Adeshina from close range but Anas Yusuf was on hand jab the loose ball into the net. His follow up effort however was cleared by Charles Okafor but the center referee adjudged that the ball had crossed the line hence giving the goal, a decision that did not go down well with the Anambra Warrriors.

Reacting after the game Uche Okagbue disclosed his displeasure over the manner at which the officiating went.

''The game didn't end one nil against my team but ended up one nil to the referee because the referee gave them that goal, everybody at the stadium saw the goal, I don't complain about referees nor officiating, I believe referees are bound to make mistakes but today's error is definitely not a mistake, it was a deliberate act, an offence that is meant to be penalized by the LMC, The ball did not cross the goal line and with decisions like these then the referees are the ones killing Nigerian football".

On the game.

"It was a good game, both sides exhibited their talents but the referee was a kill joy that is all I can only say about today's match, he concluded".
