NPFL 19: Alaekwe the hero as the miners were downed in Nnewi.

It was a heartbreaking day at the office for Nasarawa United as Chijioke Alaekwe scored an injury time goal to secure the full points for FC Ifeanyi Uba in Nnewi.

It was a cagey affair in the first half as chances were few but the best chance of the game fell to young prodigy Sanusi Ibrahim in the 17th minutes as he could not beat Nnadozie in goal for FC Ifeanyi Uba after Haggai Katoh provided him with a beautiful assist.

The first half ended with Sunusi Ibrahim guilty of missing a sitter as his scuffed effort went narrowly wide.

It was more of the same in the second half as both teams were careful but managed to go at each other at intervals. Nasarawa United kept pilling the pressure as Makama delivered a well timed free kick which fell to Victor Okoro after Abdullahi Abubakar couldn't direct his header home but the young midfielder could not make his last touch count as FC Ifeanyi Uba slowly grew into the game.

The Anambra warriors threatened on some few occasions notably through Ezediegwu Nonso but could not break the Nasarawa United defense and as the game seemed to be heading for a stalemate then before Chijioke Alaekwe popped up at the dead to lash home an unlikely winner with what was expected to be the last kick of the game to break the hearts of the Solid Miners.

Team captain, Emmanuel Makama was however not a happy man after losing such a game at the death but believes his side will be geared up to destroy Heartland of Nnewi in their next game in Lafia.
