NPFL: Give newly promoted teams more time to rest –Edo Deputy Governor.

Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon Philip Shaibu, has called for proper measures to be put in place ahead of future Nigeria National League Super Eight playoffs so as to allow newly promoted teams into the elite league get enough time to rest and strategize for the new season after promotion.

Hon Shuib, a player and strong supporter of  newly promoted Bendel Insurance of Benin has also revealed that getting just four days of rest before heading into a highly competitive NPFL might prove disastrous for the newly promoted teams as they may suffer from acute burnout having played four games in five day.

After gaining promotion to the elite league, Edo state governor Godwin Obaseki has given the sum of 25 million naira to the team for getting the NPFL tickets after a decade.

Insurance alongside Remo Stars of Shagamu gained promotion to the elite league in the Sothern conference while Kada City and Gombe United were the promoted teams from the Northern conference while Kada City defeated Bendel Insurance 4 – 3 on penalties after regulation time ended 1 – 1 to be crowned the 2017/2018 NNL champions.

Despite the recent communiqué released by the LMC to have the newly promoted teams sit out their first two league matches, the deputy governor has called for all new promoted clubs to be given at least two months to prepare for the season.
