NNL Super 8: I am disappointed with our failure to qualify to the NPFL. Kogi United coach

Head coach of Kogi United Tunde Abdulrahman has stated that he is highly disappointed that his team failed to make it through and gain promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League despite losing just one match at the playoffs taking place in Aba, Abia states commercial city.

Kogi United drew their first game 1 – 1 against Gombe United before losing their second match to Kada City and then getting a 2 – 1 win against Real Stars in their final group game of the Northern conference on Wednesday.

Despite failing to qualify for the NPFL Abdulrahman has taken time out to shower praises on his team for taking up the challenge and proving their worth despite the short notice. “My boys put up a good fighting spirit today and I like the way they played to instruction which led to us getting the goals. I am not happy with our previous outputs because we came here to qualify but we couldn’t which is really painful.”

Abdulrahman who was unavailable for the first two games against Gombe United and Kada City believes that not being present was one of the major factors that contributed to the team failing to gain promotion. “I think my absence in the first two matches affected the team. I believe in my assistant but as the saying goes two heads are better than one. If I was around the case would have been different but on the overall I’m not satisfied with the fact that we failed to gain promotion.”

Kogi United finished third on the Northern conference log with four points from three games. Kada Stars topped the table on superior goal difference over Gombe United who are also on 5 points while Real Stars finished bottom with just one point.
