AFCON 2019: Osimhen grateful to Rohr after making AFCON debut

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is grateful to Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr after making his debut in 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The 20-year-old forward was among the 23 players selected by Rohr for the 32nd edition of AFCON but did not get to make any appearance until the third-place match against Tunisia when he came on as a substitute for Odion Ighalo.

Osimhen expressed his gratitude to coach Gernot Rohr for handing him the debut while reacting to questions from Journalists after the Super Eagles defeated Carthage Eagled 1-0 to claim their record eight AFCON bronze.

"I feel great, I feel so overwhelmed. It is an important moment for me and for my family.

"I'm happy and I thank the coach for given me these minutes, it's important to me and it means a lot.

"To end the tournament with a bronze medal it's so important and I want to continue to build on this momentum and continue to do well for my club side and also for my country".

Osimhen joined Sporting Charleroi on loan from Wolfburg last season after failing to command a shirt with the German Bundesliga side and made 40 appearances in all competition scoring 20 goals.
